Most trim routers ship from the manufacturer with small base plates that tilt or tip while in use due to their small footprint. Plus, a trim router requires you to grip the entire body of it with your hand, which is less than ergonomic and makes precise cutting or carving a challenge. That's why we developed our dual handle, 8x6" universal trim router base for sign making and wood carving. The nearly 4" tall, well spaced phenolic handles provide a ridged, ergonomic and comfortable grip for two handed control. In addition, the clear base plate provides unparalleled visibility so you can see your workpiece, stencil or template while you are moving your router around.
In addition to sign making and free-hand wood carving use, this router base plate is also perfect for pocketing large sections of tray and dish templates. The wide profile of the base ensures your trim router stays level even with pocketing large tray openings because the base is (usually) always going to be riding on top of the surface of the tray or dish template.
This trim router base plate features countersunk (recessed) holes around the mounting holes so your factory screws can be used to mount the plate to your router. However, please note that in some cases you may have to further recess the hole with a countersink bit if your screws have an oversized or an uncommon screw head profile. This is to ensure that the screws sit entirely below the router plate and dont drag on your workpiece.
